Why Did I get Married Too?

The trailer is out! Tyler is at it again- Why Did I Get Married was great
a must have on DVD if you don’t already. Here’s a peak into the highly
anticipated follow up!

Recap: The September Issue

“Fashion is never about looking back
it is about looking forward.”
~ Anna Wintour

So I finally got a chance to see The September

Issue with good friend and fellow blogger
Chee over at Search.Style.Snap !
As per my past post about this documentary
film, we get an opportunity to go behind the
scenes and doors of the elite of Fashion magazines,
Vogue and into the world of the Ice Queen herself
Anna Wintour.
Honestly I never realized how much went into
a fashion magazine and its even more apparent
why Vogue is the cream of the crop! Anna gives a
miniscule taste of her life but don’t get it messed
up this woman is QUEEN. A fashion show will not
start if she is not present in front row with her
stoic facial expression and infamous bob. She is
intriguing in her own right and thats just how
she’ll have it.

She is called upon to view our favorite designers
pieces before they come out like Oscar De La Renta,
YSL, Thakoon, Karl Lagerfeld & the list can continue.
Anna’s influence over the $300 billion dollar industry
is mind blowing. Just seeing her reactions, head nods
and dismissals is classic. Although she’s no Miranda i>
Priestly -but she definitely lives up to her position as
HBIC! The documentary expands on a few that work
closely with Anna, one in which was to us was more
intriguing then Anna was, Grace Coddington.

Grace is the head Creative Director at Vogue.
She modeled as a young women in England, and
graced the cover of British Vogue as well. After
her retirement from modeling, Grace worked for
both British and American Vogue for about
40 years solidly through the ranks.

Grace seemed to be the most like able &
approachable in an industry as cut throat as
Fashion is, but her dedication, loyalty and
creative genious at Vogue is unlike any other,
she is responsible for some of the most famous
Vogue shoots to date:

And Miss Grace isn’t afraid to bite back at
Anna and her decision making- this we
enjoyed as well as how they balance each
other out in a work relationship as well as
they do. Yikes!

All in all great film – true fashionistas should
google Grace Coddington and see the film as
well a lot goes into Vogue and 10x more into the
September Issue. Loved it !

Tyler Perry is back again

I’m a Tyler Perry – Madea Addict so of course

Do The Right Thing: 20th Anniversery

June 30th marks the 20th anniversary of the
provocative pop-culture
classic,
Do The Right Thing. The film that brought Spike Lee to the
forefront
as a film maker, writer and director.
The 1989 film
depicted underlying racial tensions within a
community,
based in Bed-Stuy,Brooklyn.
Not only the hottest day
in the summer, but the story unfolded
the heat in layers of
the unspoken thought processes within a
neighborhood where many cultures harbored and tensions
were
waiting to peak.

Nominated for two Oscars and a Golden Globe, the film resurfaced
some truths to race relations
in America as a whole. The all star
cast included,
Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Danny Aiello,
Samuel L. Jackson,
John Turturo and Rosie Perez.
Spike’s colorful visionary
was well balanced, funny and fresh.
It spoke what many
film makers at the time wouldn’t push
towards making
his star shine brighter.
Loved the film and glad it could
make a bold statement
for a new generation of film makers.
